Westminster Abbey is yet another "must-see" in a city that seems to be full of them. You can either enter as part of a formal tour or on your own. I visited on a Tuesday morning and found a minimal line, moderate entrance fee(12 pounds) and audio tour to boot. There were several docents/real clergy available when I visited and... more

Some of my most precious moments have been spent in this Church of England Cathedral. I found it a privilege to be seated for an Anglican Midnight Mass and to share in Christmas hospitality in the Cloisters. A wonderful spiritual experience. more

I loved Westminster Abbey. Yes it is expensive but so is everything else in London! The place is a history lovers dream and the Poets Corner left me in awe. I loved that they stop every hour for corporate prayer, even in the midst of this busy place. The crypt was amazing!!!! Don't miss the ancient life-sized wooden effegies of... more

Ok, maybe I'm morbid, but I thought Westminster Abbey was one of the best attractions in London, even though it is not really an attraction, it's a church still in use today. We were not prepared first of all for the beauty of the outside structure, but inside, is unbelievable. With so many buried inside, there are spectacular memorials to... more

After the shock of paying £12 to enter a church, you soon realise that it's going to be a long and interesting visit. Get there early to avoid the crowds. Price includes a very interesting audio guide and staff are on hand to answer questions and show you where particular people are buried should you be looking for someone. (I... more

Just returned from London. Although I do not think it is right to pay to go into Churchs when museums in London are free, I did relent most reluctantly and paid my £9.00 senior citizen rate for the visit. What an awesome place. Steeped in history, a wonderful place which takes you back into our historical past. Tombs of Kings... more

For historical value, you probably can't find a place in London that surpasses Westminster Abbey. The list of famous personages that are buried or memorialized there would require a great deal of space and can be found elsewhere on the Internet. (Try Wikipedia.) As a place of worship, however, it's a sad commentary on the state of religion in England.... more

I went to London and was planning to visit Westminster Abbey. I was with a large group and we all took pictures of the front of it. Westminster Abbey is beautiful outside. The bad and disappointing part was that we didn't get to go in. Westminster Abbey was closed that day because the prince was coming or something of that... more

It's a magnifical monument, full of history and meaning. The Central Nave is splendorous such as the laudable recovery of the High Altar, at the time of my visit. The Shrine, Chapels, Tombs, Organ, Quire and Cloisters are more than enough argument to visit it, which enriches this Royal symbol of London. I recomend to beware with pickpockets, specially at... more

Westminster Abbey is a treasure trove of history and art. During the week, you can spend large amounts of money getting tours, but we found the most enjoyable way to experience the Abbey was to attend a Sunday service. While not being religious ourselves, we were warmly welcomed to attend the Evensong service in early May 2008. For that service... more
