My husband and I wanted to get away over Christmas to Marrakech. Unless you are a lover of chain hotels, you must stay in a riad when visiting Marrakech and if you're staying in a riad, you should pick this one. When the driver drops you off from the airport (a must to find the place!) you'll walk through a... more

Jean-Patrick was a welcoming host and did everything to make us feel at home. On arrival we were offered mint tea and he showed us our location and the highlights of Marrkesh on the map. Our room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, the only detractor was the water pressure but having travelled for 2 weeks prior in Morocco this... more

Every year my friend and I travel to Europe just the two of us without our husbands but our last trip was to Marrakech where we stayed at Dar Silsila. Marrakech is beautiful and very interesting but we discovered it can get quite overwhelming for two ladies travelling alone. The location of Dar Silsila didn’t really help, not that it... more

Nice relaxed and friendy place - which is what you need in Marrakesh as it can be a bit mad/busy at times. Location is good - it's down a dark alley but it's fine. Very peaceful with somewhere on the roof to read/slouch, and never feels busy even if full. Can also watch DVDs in a communal room if you... more

This is an absolutely fabulous riad to stay in. We loved how conveniently located it is to the main square (Jemaa El Fna) and the souks (markets). The staff were delightful and amazingly helpful. Jean-Patrick (the owner) and Mohammed paid so much attention to us and all the other guests that we felt so welcomed and comfortable throughout our stay.... more

This Riad deserves all the 5 star praise that the majority of people on Tripadvisor give to it. The Riad is well situated within walking distance of all the sites in the Medina. A short taxi ride will get you to the others , for example the Majorelle gardens. The owner , Jean-Patrick , is the most helpful , thoughtful... more

One of the cleanest, friendliest and certainly the most comfortable hotels we have stayed at. Right from the first minute of our arrival when i was offered tea/coffee/biscuits to the last day when, having left our bags overnight at the hotel for a trip to essaouira (again, above the call of duty) we were offered a free breakfast!! During our... more

I have just returned from a week in Marrakesh with three friends. The Dar Silsila is perfectly situated within a few minutes walk of the Jemma El Fna. We got to know the little alleyways quite well, and found three routes. Jean Patrique and his staff did everything possible to make us feel welcome and cared for. Nothing was too... more

The Silsila fell way short of my expectations: no glass in the windows, just shutters; no drapes over the fixed stained glass; one tilted and one lumpy mattress; rubbery pillows; a noisy heater; no storage space; a feeble shower and an inadequate breakfast - and it lacked the attentive service I had read about. Not wanting to suffer through two... more

Firstly, I must say that I am not surprised to have received this particular review after the report my staff gave me regarding this guest. She had sent me her comments in an email implying that if she did not give her a refund she would post her comments about my riad on Trip Advisor. When this guest arrived she...

My family and I had a wonderful stay here about a month ago. The service was tops and the staff made every accommodation to make our stay great. Jean Patrick is a gentleman and an excellent host. He made special exceptions for us and helped us in anyway we needed it. The other fellow in charge is Sahid. He acts... more
