Booked two nights at the Norfolk through our US travel agent to give us a little down time prior to joining friends for a house party/safari. We had ordered the hotel vehicle to meet us. Expensive at I think $35 per person, but preferable to sorting out a good taxi driver late at night. We were a litle irritated that... more

We stayed at the Norfolk for four nights in September with two teenagers. The hotel has a colonial charm about it with photos of early settlers to Kenya adorning the walls of the corridors which make interesting viewing. The rooms were large and had comfortable beds and a great plasma TV. A nice touch was the complimentary cheese platter and wine that... more

After travelling for two days from our home in Virginia USA, the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel was an oasis for our first two nights in Kenya on the way to a safari. The beds were comfortable, service was impeccable, the food was very good (the best butternut squash soup I've ever eaten) and the room service breakfast served at 545am on... more

We stayed here for one night . Most aspects of the hotel were good but we had booked a pick up from the airport with them . Can you imagine our frustration on arrival to find firstly our luggage was missing and then to discover we had to organise our own taxi. THis proved to be an excellent choice. Jatco... more

Not the Norfolk we knew of old (1960s, now much expanded) but still the most nostalgic hotel in Nairobi. If you want a slice of Africa of old, stay here. Ibis grill great food, lovely service. more

We stayed at the Norfolk Hotel on for two nights in January before leaving on a photo safari and during the day on our return to Nairobi. The room was fine, the service excellent, the property beautiful and the food delicious. There are still renovations underway, but we were out most of the day so we didn't notice the noise.... more

Our family stayed there twice - both times for one night. The hotel is going through a renovation which may account for what we encountered. (One of the dining rooms isn't operating.) The first time was fine - we were upgraded and our stay was very brief (less than 8 hours). The second stay was longer and was very unhappy.... more

Some 20 years ago we visited the Norfolk for drinks only. Finally the time had come to stay overnight. When we arrived we were shocked, the place is one big building site, I guess we were lucky as it was X-mas, no construction work was going on. The famous Delamere Terrace isn’t there at the moment. Also the tropical gardens... more

The Norfolk Hotel is being renovated through Mar 08. They try to conceal it, but there is still daily construction noise (pounding, power tools). This is a pricey hotel even with renovation going on. I became ill and had to stay an extra day; they charged me $485 for one night. more

Oh dear, where do I start ? we stayed twice during a recent safari and the rooms we got on the two stays were miles apart in quality- you couldnt believe the difference - the first room we got was pleasant and clean, nothing amazing considering the price they were charging but it was ok, but boy oh boy, the... more
