I am a regular in Nairobi and for once I wanted to stay at the historical Norfolk Hotel even if the rate was a lot higher than other less famous places. The first time at the end of July I got an ok room and decided to book for a two-night stay with my husband a few days later. I... more

During our recent trip to Kenya we stayed twice in the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. The downside was that the restaurants, bars and a number of the rooms are in the process of being rennovated. This means the eating and drinking options are very limited. We had been looking forward to... more

We stayed here for a couple of nights before flying home and really enjoyed it. The staff are very friendly, the grounds are loverly and our room was excellent. The hotel is really peaceful and it doesent feel like you are in the middle of Nairobi. It is well located if you want to take a walk into the centre... more

We stayed one night at the Norfolk before our Safari started and one night at the end before leaving Kenya. First of all the grounds and common areas are beautiful but they are in the middle of renovations and the main bar and two restaurants were shut down which was disapointing. The first room we stayed in was #2 right... more

We stayed at the Norfolk prior to departing on a safari and then had a day room prior to an evening return flight. Our first room was 601 which had a lovely view of the garden and a nice private patio. However we had problem with the lock on the patio door, the shower leaked and when I first started... more

I stayed at the Norfolk before making my way around Kenya and Tanzania. I am from Philadelphia and the Norfolk made me feel as if I was home in Rittenhouse Square. I was by myself and felt very safe at The Norfolk. Would absolutely stay again. more

I travel a fair bit round Africa and the Norfolk certainly stands out as one of the better ones. The room was fine (although I had to get an enginner in as the air-conditiioning broke down), the food was average but generally not bad, the gardens were beautiful and the staff were very welcoming. I would definitely stay here again... more

I loved the thought that Karen Blixen stayed here and, as I understand it, the bar is the one she was refused admission to. So, the first thing I did on arrival was to check out the bar. There are hundreds of photos of well-know people who stayed at the Norfolk through the years. We stayed there two nights, the... more

The Norfolk Hotel, built in 1904, is an oasis of serenity and beauty in Nairobi: a busy, dirty, and often dangerous city. This is a charming 2 story hotel built around a central flower garden. I stayed there three times in March while I was doing some work in Nairobi and then trravelling throughout Namibia and Kenya. Each time I... more

The Norfolk Hotel and apartments This former colonial bastion has a rich history and was a preserve of the colonialists. The 5 star Nairobi hotel is set on the outskirts of the CBD and opposite the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation and the Nairobi University. It is set in a quite serene environment and yet a 5 minute walks from the CBD.... more
